A family-owned housing company in Brooklyn, New York. We build and restore homes people can afford to keep — and we intend to do it far beyond this block.
Housing is the ground everything else stands on. Lose it and the rest goes with it. We started this company because we know what that feels like, and because we would rather build than watch.
Hearthstone Living JJB was formed by one family that has spent a long time in one Brooklyn neighborhood — buying, keeping, fighting for, and repairing the places people live. That experience is the whole reason this company exists.
We are not trying to be the largest housing company in the country. We are trying to be the one a family can trust with the place they raise their children.
New construction of housing priced for the people who already live in the neighborhood, not the ones expected to replace them.
Bringing vacant, neglected, and deteriorated homes back into use. Older housing stock is worth saving, and most of it can be.
Managing what we build so it stays in good repair and stays affordable. A building is only as good as the decade after it opens.
We start where we are. Central Brooklyn is where this family has lived for decades, and it is where our first projects belong.
But the housing problem is not a Brooklyn problem. What we learn here we intend to carry to the places that need it, one project at a time, without pretending we can be everywhere at once.
